HOME BUSINESS WEBSITE MARKETING ETHICS by Mary Janet Namuli
The game on the Internet is marketing or call it exposure of your home business website. It is through marketing
that your home business website will attract traffic. Every one, you included knows this fact, but the only problem is that
people do not follow the ethics and so end up disappointed. What are these ethics? Read on.
There are many methods of online home business marketing. Some have high returns while others will give you
little to no returns at all (Just wastage of time and effort). You must know what the options are, and stick to what works.
However, each method has its own ethics and if you are to be effective, you must follow them. So, which are those home business-marketing
methods and the ethics?
1.Pay Per Click Advertising (PPC):
You may wonder why I have started with this. The simple answer is because this method will give you quick
returns. Every Internet business owner should consider pay per click advertising. It's fast, it's targeted and can be cheap
if done correctly.
Ethics for PPC: Though it is not rocket science, you must research how to create a cost effective pay per
click campaign. Read books on how to cost effectively run this campaign. Otherwise you might end up spending $300 where you
would have spend $50.Your goal should be to pay less than 20 cents per keyword but no more. Finding relevant, less popular
keywords is goal.
2.Search Engine Optimisation and submission:
Search engines are the best source of free website traffic. Don't build your site and forget it. Utilize the
search engines to your benefit by taking the time to optimise your site. Ethics when using search engine optimisation: Here
you always have to keep abreast of the happenings in the world of the SEOs. Though it is the best source of traffic (Free
traffic), any slight mistake will get your website banned for ever and thus frustration to your efforts. In other words, avoid
black hat SEO tricks that violate the search engine terms.
3. Using Articles to market your home business: Articles help you to get the word out about your self, your
business and your expertise by providing relevant, useful information. Just as you read this article, many other people are
reading it. You will click on the link to my website and that is traffic to my site. So don't put article writing off. The
Internet is designed to deliver information and through these articles, we contribute to the growth of the Internet. The ethics
in article writing and submission: Avoid plagiarism (Copying other peoples work.) Be original with your content. Provide expert
knowledge, which you have researched. Make a habit of proof reading your articles before submission. If you cannot write your
own articles, you can hire ghostwriters. When submitting, follow the rules and guidelines of the sites that are going to accept
and distribute your articles.
4. Using Ezines Electronic newsletters are an effective marketing method for any home business. For quick
and fast results, I always recommend that you use ezine advertising and PPC advertising. Ethics when using ezines: Don't just
spend money on any ezine, research on your target and only send to those ezines that cater to your target market. Always follow
the submission rules and guide lines search as correct word count. Format and proof read your ezine adverts before attempting
to submit.
Well, that will be it for this article. My aim was to show you that even in home business marketing, we have
ethics which when followed; you can be assured of the dollars. But take not that the marketing methods I have covered are
not the only ones. There are many others such as: using Press Releases, logging, online forums, Free offers and many others.
But keep in mind that they all have ethics.
However, from this article, you should deduce the common ethic as being research before carrying out any home
business marketing campaign.
Take care and have success with your home business.
